This is an act you must see live if you have any opportunity at all. They are one of the tightest bands around and with Jerry Douglas being a member of Union Station these days they are not to be missed. Alison Krauss provides a mean fiddle, a lovely voice and a goofy personality to the show. Union Station presently includes Dan Tyminski, (an excellent singer [the voice of George Clooney for "Man of Constant Sorrow" in "O Brother Where Art Thou?"] and guitarist, Ron Block (also a good singer, guitarist, and banjo player), Barry Bales (a bassist), and Jerry Douglas (often considered the world's best dobro player). We saw them in the Quad-Cities in 2002 on their tour for "New Favorite." Mr. Bales was sick with the flu that night and so unable to perform but they were still fabulous. Their sound is a combination of pop and bluegrass and a most excellent one at that. They seem to have a great time playing together and they are superb musicians and entertainers. On album we recommend Alison Krauss' "Now That I've Found You - A Collection", Alison Krauss and Union Station's "New Favorite" and their latest and (in Wade's opinion) their best "Alison Krauss and Union Station Live." Respresentative of their great live show, the album is a double CD taken from the "New Favorite" tour. Alison and the band also made significant contributions to the excellent "O Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack.
