Joan Baez

Joan Baez needs no introduction to folk fans.  She reigned in the early 60s as the "Queen of Folk" and her career has spanned over 40 years.  Wade saw her in 1989 on tour for her album "Speaking of Dreams."  She was (and I presume is) still an excellent live performer.  I thought she would sing well, but what surprised me a bit is that she is also funny.  Vanguard has recently re-issued her early albums and we recommend "Joan Baez Volume One," "Joan Baez Volume Two," and "Farewell Angelina" especially.  From Joan's later years we recommend "Diamonds and Rust," "From Every Stage," and "Play Me Backwards."
