Individual Note:   -Archibald Fisher was born in Scotland.He died May 1,1805 near the present town of Ellis Grove,Illinois.He married his first and second wife in Scotland.His third wife Susanna Shaddon the widow of Matthew Shaddon ,he married in Augusta County,Virginia. His fourth wife, Elizabeth Sharp, he married in1797 in Knoxville,Tennessee.This marriage bond was signed by his son-in-law John Steele. Archibald immigrated from Scotland to South Carolina in the mid 18th century. He lived in Augusta County, Virginia 1767-1773 where he owned land;in Stanley Valley-Hawkins County,Tennessee where he owned land and signed the 2nd petition to Virginia by the North of Holston (1777) in Knoxville, Tennessee.He owned land in Sumner County,Tennessee and about 1802 moved to Randolph County,Illinois settling in Springfield Township on Nine Mile Creek.This is just west of the Kaskaskia River near the present town of Ellis Grove,where he delveloped a farm. He lived there until his death.
