Individual Note:   William (the Lion) was King of Scotland from 1165-1214. He was a brother to Malcom IV. he succeeded to the throne after his brother passed away. he quarreled with King Henry ll of England. William got an alliance between Scotland and France in 1173, with King Louis Vll he helped Henry's sons in a rebellion against their father which was unsuccessfull.
While raiding the countryside near Alnwick, he was captured by the English and they took him to Normandy to prison. he had to acknowledge that Henry as overlord of Scotland
