Individual Note: THE WILL OF MAJOR JOHN STITH, SR. WHO DIED IN 1694
Will of John STITH, Sr. of Westover Parish, Charles City County, Virginia, Gentleman. To oldest son John, all land I live on and my mill lately built, and all other lands belonging to me except my land on eastern branch of Herring Creek, which I give to my son Drury. To my daughter Jane, now wife of Capt. Daniel Luellin, 5 pounds. To my daughter Ann, now wife of Mr. Robert Bolling, 10 pounds. To my daughter Agnes, now wife of Mr. Thomas Wynn, 5 pounds. All rest of my estate divided in three parts to my wife Jane and sons John and Drury. Drury is to take his share of personal estate at plantation left to him, but if more than his share, then surplus to the other two. To my loving friend Hugh Davis, 20 shillings to buy him a ring. He is to settle any difference among my executors. Since marriage of my son Drury, I have allowed him his third of my personal estate and made over the plantation left in my will. John Stith was in America by 1656 and at that time had received a 500-acre grant to him and to Samuel Earle; the land was in Charles City Co.,Va on the James River upstream from Jamestown .He was an attorney and a magistrate and also a captain in the Militia in 1676, and later became a Major.He was a member of the House of Burgess 1685-86
John's Charles City Co. will has a codidil dated Oct.3,1693,proved April 3,1694, that reads:"I give and bequeath to my daughter Agnes, the now wife of Mr. Thomas Wynn,the sum of 15 pounds sterling,in full of all that she may or can claime as a child's part in mine estate."

Individual Note: Will of Ann Bibb, dated August 18, 1789. Filed March 3, 1790. will Book 3 page 288, Louisa Co. Virginia.
It is my will and desire that my daughters, that is to say, Ellizabeth McAllister, Eleanor Cole and Mary Edwards, have the following property equally divided between them; 2 Notter Counterpins; Pewter and Earthenware; 2 pots, 1 Dutch Oven; 1 skillet; 1 stew pot; 1 corner cubbard; 1 large chist; 1 cotten wheel; 2 pair cods; 2 linen wheels; 1 loom; 5 slaves.
My will and desire is that Elizabeth Mc Allister, my daughter, have my cotten pache or the produce of it. It is my will and desire that my son, Benny Bibb have the desk, and that Ann Edwards have a small chest.
All the above mentioned property, I look upon to be my own , it being what I have got since my husbands death.
This given under my hand and seal this 18th day of August, 1789
