Individual Note: Luke Wheeler born about 1696 ??? in Charles Co, MD.
He inherited 600 acres called "Red Neck" (Md Calendar of Wills 6, 296). On 29 Jul 1717, he sold to Joseph L Clements a tract of land containing 300 acres called "Indian Field", a part of "Planter's Delight" (Charles County DBH No 2, fol 270). On 1 Jun 1728, he sold to Peter Mills a tract containing 100 acres of land called "Red Bird Thicket" in Prince George County, MD (Ibid M Fol 305). This parcel of land was patented in 1697 by Ignatius Wheeler, father of Luke Wheeler, in 1697.
The will of Luke Wheeler was signed 30 Nov 1741 in St Mary's Co, MD. It was probated 3 Mar 1741 (Md Calendar of Wills 22.437). The Inventory was filed 10 Mar 1741 and approved 3 Aug 1742. The value of the estate was 246 pounds, 8 shillings (Inven. of the Prerogative Crt. of Md Liber 27, f 56).

Protheser Wheeler remained a widow after Luke Wheeler's death. Her will dated 17 Feb 1773 was probated 25 Aug 1785 at St Mary's Co, MD (St Mary's Co Register of Wills JJ 1:336). The final settlement of the estate is dated 11 Sep 1786. The value of the estate was 923 pounds, 15 shillings, 6 pence (Balances & Distributions JJ p 23, Register of Wills, St Mary's, Md).

PROTHESER C—-7—-3, parentage unknown, may have been b in St. Mary's co, MD, ca 16961:73. We believe that she m LUKE WHEELER there ca 1717 (?) and bore 9 ch of his there. Researchers need to look for marriage and birth records there,
On 17 Feb 1773, PROTHESER (------) WHEELER drew this Will in St. Mary's co; I PROTHESER WHEELER of Saint Marys County being sick and weak of body but of Sound and Disposing memory, do make and ordain this my Testament and Last Will . . . first and principally I Recommend my Soul to God hoping through the ( illegible)of my Blessed Redeemer Jesus Christ to Recieve Salvation of my sins, and as for what worldly goods it hath pleased the almighty to bestow on me I dispose of in the following manner to wit,._ Item I give and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Mary Wheeler Daughter of my Late son Bennett fifty pounds Current Money__ Item I give and bequeath to Grandson JOSEPH SHEIRCLIFFE Thirty pounds. Current Money Item I give & bequeath to my Grand Daughter ELISABETH HOULT Twenty pounds Current Money__ Item I give and bequeath to my son William Wheeler fifty pounds Current money___ Item I give and bequeath to my son Clement Wheeler fifty pounds Current money __ Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Susanna Sheircliffe, Seventy pounds Current Money_ I give and bequeath to my Daughter Henrietta Peake fifty pounds current money_ Item I give & bequeath to my Daughter Mary Ann Clements, one Cow & Calf Item I give and bequeath to my son Raphael Wheeler fifty pounds Current money _ Item I give and bequeath to my son Ignatius Wheeler fifty pounds Current money Item I also give and bequeath to my said son Ignatius Wheeler fifty pounds Current money to keep in his hands untill he sees Convenient and then at his Discretion to apply the same to the Support of my aforesaid Daughter Mary Ann Clements__ Whereas my son Ignatius Wheeler hath had use of my Land and negroes for Some years last past, & as we have never had any Settlement of the same, I hereby Release him from any Charge that may Come against him thereon on his paying one hundred pounds Current money __ the intent and meaning of this my will is that if my Estate on appraisement, and adding the one hundred pounds Current money aforesaid to be paid by my son, Ignatius Should not amount to a Sum Sufficient to pay the several above mentioned Legacies, then the Legatees aforesaid to deduct in proportion to the Several Sums Given them; and in case it should Amount to more than will pay off the same therefore them to Recieve in proportion to the several Sums Given -- I hereby nominate Constitute and appoint my said son Ignatius Wheeler, whole and sole Executor of this my Testament & Last Will, In witness whereof I PROTHESER WHEELER in the presence of the under named witnesses hath set my hand and affixed my
