Individual Note:   James M. Winn Sr. was bornon Feb. 5, 1841 in Wilson County. Tennesse. He enlisted in the military on April 21, 1862 in Peola Kansas.HE ENLISTED AS PRIVATE IN COMPANY E,6THE KANSAS CALVALRY IN THE CIVIL WAR. HE WAS DISCHARGED APRIL 21,1865 AT DUVALLS BLUFF, ARKANSAS.
iN HIS RECORDSHE WAS STATED TO BE 5' 7 DARK COMPLEXION WITH GREY EYES AND BLACK HAIR.HIS OCCUPATION WAS A FARMER, AT THE TIME HE FILED FOR INABILITY AFFIDAVIT FOR PENSION. HIS PENSION NUMBER WAS1035994.
He died on January 28, 1925 in Taylorville, Christian Co.Illinois. he was buried in OakHill Cemetery ,Taylorville, Illinois

Individual Note:   Jonathan P. Winn was born in Virginia in the year 1897 according to the 1850 St. Clair Co. Il. census. He joined the mounted volunteers commanded by Captain Charles Betts in the war of Great Britian declared June 1812. He volunteered at Lunenburgh County, Virginia in September of 1812. for the term of 6 months. and was discharged at Petersburgh, Virginia.
He made application for a bounty warrant under the act of Sept. 1850 and received a land warrant No. 36650 for 40 acres. He passed away at Schueler Co. Il. on 17 Sept. 1856.
