Individual Note: Andrew Jackson (Jack) Mead and his brothers after they got older apparently were affluent enough to each own a horse as one aquanintance said she remembered the Mead boys riding into St. Mary, Mo. and stirring up the dust by riding their horses in circles just for fun. Jack's son Andrew, recalls a humorous incident told to him about his dad's attempt to catch a wild turkey. "The turkeys appeared every morning in the same place, so he figured he would dig a hole at this spot , get in it and cover himself up with brush hoping the turkeys would walk over this trap--they did and he grabbed one by the leg,but that ole turkey almost flogged him to death and it just about tore up his jacket, besides half freezing while he was waiting for the turkeys.
