Shieldstown Covered Bridge 1876 Seen 07/05/2003 WGN 14-36-02 Map Quest Location
Shieldstown Bridge is located West of Seymour, IN. On county road 250 East, northeast
of Brownstown, IN. This is a Burr Arch construction bridge, built by J.J. Daniels, it is a
2 span bridge, 231 feet long, and crosses East Fork White River. It was bypassed in 1970.
I think it is the best condition, of the three bridges in Jackson County.
Best direction to it.
Take S.R. 50 west out of Seymour, IN. You will go up a hill, there is a Crane Machine Shop
on the right, take the first road to the right, (there is a tall water tower on the left side of the road)
go about 1 mile, the bridge is after a RR track.
