J.P. Van Fossen built this double span covered bridge which is 263 Feet long,

as a replacement for the bridge that had been burned. The original which was built in 1866 was burned  by two men, who were refused service in the saloon which they had already had to much to drink. The truly angry men left town and "burned their bridges behind them.

This is a Burr Arch construction bridge. It crosses the Big Raccoon Creek.

And is on the National Register of Historical Places. 1978
