| We Lost An Old Friend |
On April 2, 2002 Parke County suffered a devastating loss when arsonists burnt the Jefferies Ford Covered Bridge. Not only did we loose a vital part of our heritage but also an old friend. Built in 1915 of Burr Arch construction this 204’, double span bridge was a family effort by J.A. Britton and his nine sons. Although it can never be replaced, plans are underway to build a new bridge on this site. |
