The Bridgeton Bridge  1868          WGN 14-61-04   Seen 05-18-2002                         Map Quest Location

Bridgeton, IN.

This is a Burr Arch construction bridge 245 feet long,  2 spans bridge built by J. J. Daniels.

The bridge, with its mill and waterfall, is probably the Midwest's most

photographed and painted cover bridge. It crosses the Big Raccoon Creek.

It was bypassed in 1978, and is on the National Register of Historical Places. 1978

Sadly this bridge was torched on April 28th 2005, but funds were collected to rebuild. And was finished 2007

I do not have pictures of the burned bridge but here is a web page you can go to.   Bridgeton Bridge

There is also a Grist Mill here that still operates.

   This is the original bridge.
