I upgraded from the Davis Vantage Pro 1 to the Pro 2 because of reception issues. The new unit uses hopping spread spectrum radio transmission to improve signal. I have shown an increase from 74% reception to near 100% reception. The newer unit also allows for updates to be downloaded and so forth. Davis Instruments is an excellent company for us hard core weather people.
Weather information is transmitted to the house from the Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus to the weather console in the house and from there to the computer..

The KAP
This is a cover (the blue thing) for the rain bucket. It's used to cover the bucket during the winter to prevent accumulation of snow and ice. This is better than anything I have seen . It goes on and off easily, yet won't blow off in the strong Iowa winter winds.
