I couldn't afford a real pro kit so I built this kit using the hardware from my CB kit and with maple shells and blue covering material purchased from Precision Percussion in New York (I had to mail order the material since the internet wasn't that advanced yet). I built most the kit in about one weekend and added a maple snare later. The drums sounded much better than the black kit but they were always limited by the thick plastic covering. The picture here is from hours after I finished building them. During this time I began using a Pearl rack and I purchased Enduro cases to protect them during their various moves and storages. I eventually sold them to a kid in Chicago when I couldn't afford to keep two acoustic kits.
