Classes run
in sessions which begin the first Monday in January, May, and September
and last 4 months or as indicated.
Youth Classes
Beginning Fencing
(Youth ages 7-9)
When:
As available on Monday nights, 7:00 pm to 7:50 pm for 10 weeks
Cost: $50 individual - Registration required
This class is specially formatted for youth
ages 7-9 who are interested in learning fencing. We use the mini-Fence
system developed by Leon Paul. Emphasis is on learning skills through
games and drills aimed at this age group. Participants need to wear comfortable clothes to workout in.
There is no continuing classes for 7-9 at this time.
Beginning Fencing
(Youth ages 10-14)
When: Tuesdays
7:00-7:50 p.m.
Cost: $100 individual/$200 family + $100/member for equipment - Registration required
This is for
those youth ages 10-14 who are interested in learning fencing. The
class emphasis is on the basics of fencing. The foil is used to teach
the basic bladework concepts. Basic tactics and bouting are included in
the class. Participants need to wear comfortable clothes to
workout in.
Fundamentals of Foil
(Youth ages 10-14)
When:
Mondays 7:00-7:50 p.m. or Tuesdays 8:00-8:50 p.m.
Cost: DMFC Membership
This class is for those students who have
completed the Beginning Fencing class or who can demonstrate a basic
knowledge of fencing actions with the foil. This class build upon the
techniques developed in the Beginning Fencing class. More detailed
bladework and tactics for the foil are learned and practiced.
Participants need to wear comfortable clothes.
Fundamentals of
Epee (Youth)
When:
Thursdays 7:00-7:50 p.m.
Cost: DMFC Membership
This class is for those students who have
completed the Beginning Fencing class. This class build upon the
techniques developed in the Beginning Fencing class. More detailed
bladework and tactics for the epee are learned and practiced.
Participants need to wear comfortable clothes. Ownership of fencing
gear not required, but recommended.
Fundamentals of Sabre
(Youth)
When:
Thursdays 7:00-7:50 p.m.
Cost: DMFC Membership
This class is for those students who have
completed the Beginning Fencing class. This class build upon the
techniques developed in the Beginning Fencing class. More detailed
bladework and tactics for the saber are learned and practiced.
Participants need to wear comfortable clothes. Ownership of fencing
gear not required, but recommended.
