Fencing Club "Expectations"

Coaches' expectations for their Students:

  1. to be properly stretched out and warmed up

  2. to be properly attired

  3. to follow all of the rules for safe fencing

  4. to be attentive and respectful of the coach and their fellow students

  5. to practice the drills assigned by the coach as described by the coach

  6. to ask questions when something is not clear to them

  7. to respect the fact that coaches need to practice as well

  8. to not interrupt a lesson unless it is an emergency. Wait for the coach to acknowledge you.

Failure to meet these expectations may lead to you being asked to leave the class or even disciplinary actions by the Board in extreme cases.

Students' expectations for their Coaches:

  1. to clearly state expectations

  2. to be knowledgeable about fencing techniques and drills

  3. to be prepared and organized for each class

  4. to answer questions about the material being presented and to research questions for which they do not know the answer

  5. to answer off-line, or as appropriate, questions not directly related to the lesson material

If a student is having a problem with a coach not meeting these expectations, they are encouraged to talk to the coach, or to the Board of Directors.
