Deb's Links and Things

We have four kids between us.  Our youngest is going overseas with the Army.  Our son-in-law is also in the Army.  It goes without saying that we would like for everyone to put them in your prayers.

I have a friend who's son is getting ready to ship out too. Will and I are veteran's.

Prayer Wheel

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us. Bless them

and their families for the selfless acts they
perform for us in our time of need. I ask this
in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Amen."

Prayer Wheel:

When you see this, please stop for a moment

and say a prayer for our ground troops in
Afghanistan.

Of all the gifts you could give a US Soldier,
Prayer is the very best one.....

willdebuniform.jpg (106090 bytes) Will and I in our mess dress.  We are attending the Marine Corps Ball.  This is held every year to celebrate the Marine Corps birthday.  Will, as a First Sgt, had many friends that spanned the 4 branches of service.  This was at Chanute, AFB prior to them shutting it down.  If you are in the military and have never experienced a formal military ball or dining in/out it is something you should attend.  You don't have to have a mess dress but there are dress codes for these affairs.

Why I Love Mom...

Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches, rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the wash and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieces left on the table and put the telephone book back into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.

She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a textbook out from hiding under the chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse.

Mom then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night Solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails. Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed." "I'm on my way," she said.

She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamp, hung up a shirt! , threw some dirty socks in the hamper,
and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

When in her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day,
straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.

About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in
particular,

"I'm going to bed." And he did...without another thought.

So here we go.

In the Air National Guard unit I was a member of in Illinois, I had the pleasure of deploying to Denmark.  These next pictures will show you a little of the county.  We were at Karup Air Station.  We had a day or two to go sight seeing.  It is a beautiful country.  I was tickled to go to Lego Land while I was there.  The things you can do with Lego's.  Take a look:

Denmark1.jpg (309697 bytes) denmark2.jpg (65392 bytes)  lego1.jpg (240357 bytes)  lego2.jpg (180523 bytes)

The first picture is a collage of what you would typically see.  The houses have thatched roofs.  I thought they were cool.  My supervisor Mike is standing at the end of an old WWl bunker.  We passed this used car lot on the way to visit some castles.  The stone is an entrance to a grave yard that consisted of mostly women and children.  And that motley crew at the top would represent the entire maintenance scheduling crew.

The next picture is a turret tower.  This is where you would find the big guns peeking out of the window to the opposing forces.  European history is amazing.  I have had the opportunity to visit Germany and Denmark and both places, rich with history, are remarkable countries.

The 3rd and 4th picture are part of Lego Land.  The band is real but everything else except for the tourist taking pictures are made out of Lego's.  It is truly amazing.
