Vacations to the Moon, Only $100 Million

Space Adventures recently held a press conference where they announced that they plan to offer trips to the moon for paying customers in the future. It would be easy to hears such claims and assume that Space Adventures is just trying to get some media attention to draw in venture capitalist with fat wallets. However the company has already enjoyed some level of success.

The company was behind both the first and the second ever space tourist. American Dennis Tito had the honor of being the first ever, with South American Mark Shuttleworth being the next. This October the third Gregory Olsen, will leave Earth. Space Adventures has teamed up with the Russian Space Agency. (amazing how fast they at least have figured out this whole capitalism thing)

The future lunar trip would use the Russian Soyuz vessel. It was originally designed for trips to the moon but was never used for such a purpose. The trip would feature an interesting trip around the rarely seen far, dark side of the lunar surface. Space Adventures have said they will be making some alterations to the craft, including refitting the docking system, and enlarging the port hole window to 18 inches, to allow space tourists more room for photo taking.
