Microsofts 'Critical' Security Patch Temporarily Pulled

This Tuesday Billy and the boys rolled out the latest patches for the leaky ship that is their Windows operating system. Also fixed up in the patch where three important fixes for the Internet Explorer browser. One of the more serious patches fixed an exploit that would allow someone to take over a users computer via a JPEG image.

Windows uses began to update in droves yesterday. Users downloading the IE patch from the Microsoft download center began to have some problems however. Many of the downloads where corrupt causing a digital signature. The update will not install unless it has the correct digital signature. This in effect locked users out from getting the update.

It does appear that the IE patch was the only one effected in this manner. Patches to the OS itself appeared to be downloading and installing without any problems. Microsoft says they have identified the problem and removed the download until it can be fixed.

Am I the only one who finds it very ironic that the patch to fix major security flaws would be corrupted? Only in Microsoft land :-P
