Discovery to Return to Earth Early Monday Morning

NASA finally returned to space this summer. However things could have went much better. Still reeling from the Columbia disaster, high hopes where riding on this mission. Bad news came in early on when it was discovered that a 1 1/2-inch piece of thermal tile had broke off during takeoff.

There was a time when America was in love with the space program but that seems to have really died out in recent decades. I think thats really to bad since space exploration is one thing that I've always thought mankind will eventually have to work on together on, setting aside nationalities, religions and borders.

NASA has put plans of all future shuttle launches on hold until they can figure out a solution for foam issues. This means that the International Space Station will have to rely on the Russian space program. I honestly hope that Discovery returns to Earth tomorrow with no hitches. Not only for the sake of the brave explorers on board, but also for NASA as a whole. I do not know if the program could take another loss so soon after Columbia.
