The mission of the Singularity Action Group is to promote a Singularity for the good of mankind through public education and direct action in the development of Singularity technologies. We believe that everyone can help make the Singularity a success. As our name implies, talk is good but action is better.
"Within a short time, everything that can be known, will be known, and anything that is possible within the laws of physics will be achievable." Daniel G. Clemmensen.
The Singularity Action Group was formed to address the social transition of the Singularity. The Singularity will herald the beginning of a new age in which physical and mental perfection will be the norm along with unimaginable wealth and freedom. These benefits will accrue not just to the current privileged classes but to every human being. If the masses of poor, disenfranchised, or politically oppressed peoples of the world are not assured that they will benefit from the Singularity it will turn out badly. No one can be left behind. We believe our efforts to be complementary to the existing Singularity organizations (SIAI, EXTROPY, KurzweilAI.net, WTA), which we support (in spirit).
We don't intend to be dogmatic about a particular vision of the future. The Singularity hasn't happened yet, so none of us can be too certain that we know what will or will not occur. Opinions of reasonable people will vary in a matter of such incomprehensibility. This variation is good. The more different ways we can think about the Singularity, the better prepared we will be for the big surprises.
Our approach is a combination of education and a variety of project teams.
Membership is free and open to everyone. If you want to be a part of the most exciting endeavor in history join the Singularity Action Group. The Singularity is ours to make. If you would like to join the Singularity Action Group please feel free to contact Mike Deering at deering9@mchsi.com
