Hi Mike -- I was impressed with the VSC, except for some minor differences between individual instruments, compared to my outboard SC-55mkII. One thing that does bug me is the latency - nearly 1/2 a second with their default settings, so using it in concert with the outboard module is not really possible, unless the latency is shortened. When I try to do that and bring the setting closer to zero, it starts breaking up. It takes too much of the processor's attention and can't keep up... I think on my Athalon 2400+ with 1.5 GB of ram I can bring it down to around 100 mSec before it starts breaking up, but it gets interrupted by other processes at times, so kind of "stutters". When I leave it at the default, it acts pretty normal. I do like some of the other instruments and effects of its SC88 features, almost makes me start thinking about an SC88 or whatever Edirol/Roland module is current... No, haven't tried any new sequencing software lately. Since I sequence on a note-by-note basis with a mouse, I haven't found anything that allows me the control and precision of WJPro, but the author of that has kind of disappeared from the net -- too bad. He was an independent developer and had a pretty good product. I tried some others a few years ago, but kept coming back to WJPro. Mot sequencing programs ae meant to be used with (musical) keyboards - which I don't play. Wish I did sometimes, but I have good results with how I've been doing sequences for nearly 15 years, now.
