Around 1997 or so, I found myself getting really depressed, and I attributed part of it to the music I was listening to at the time. In order to remedy that situation, I stopped listening to a lot of the music I was listening to and found other things to listen to...like Beatles! I got hooked right away.

About a year later, we got a computer and got online, and I instantly started looking for Beatles MIDI files (since I'd just gotten a new MIDI keyboard as well), and found quite a few by D. W. Barnes. Again, I was instantly hooked.

At the time, I thought they were just plain MIDI files and that a lot of the others I heard were horrible. Now, after not hearing them for years and going around re-getting them tonight, I've seen the light. These MIDI's are simply amazing in most respects--though the fact that I'm probably not using the MIDI device they were intended for is likely making them sound funny (weird patches, instruments that stick out where they shouldn't, etc.). Being a sequencer myself, I can understand the inconsistancies that come up, and am simply astounded by how great these files are.

The Beatles are probably my favorite band of all time, and these files do them more than justice in many cases. I sincerely thank D. W. Barnes for sequencing these--partly because they were obviously done with appreciation for the music itself, and partly because they save me the trouble of having to do them all myself, heh heh. Thank you a million times.
