Hi, I'm fairly new to sequencing. I can use both software and hardware to create sequences, but I prefer software because it's very precise. I use Cakewalk's SONAR and I have a Roland XP-60 Workstation. Given I'm a neophyte at all this, I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to give me some advice.
First off, I can sequence vocal/piano/guitar (tab)/bass from sheet music; however, most songs have lots more in them like mandolins, banjos, strings, etc. A lot of it is very subtle and I try to pick it up and reproduce it on the XP-60, but without sheet music it's very difficult for me. How do you figure out parts of songs that are not available in sheet music?
Secondly, when I use the software program I have by Cakewalk, I know how to "create" the ties by modifying the duration of notes. For example, if I put in a half note and bump the duration up from 480 to 720 ticks, I get the half note with a quarter note tied to it. However, the pitch is the same throughout the duration of the 720 ticks. How do I get the pitch of a note to change during the tie. For example, if I want the half note to start as an e and bend to an F during the duration of the tie, how do I do that?
Any help you can give me on these newbie questions would be most gratefully appreciated.
Thanx 1000000 -- CR
