Equipment Differences affect how MIDI sequences Sound

I've had comments that my midi sequences sound funny on someone's computer, or asking why I use some particular instrument for a lead, etc. Most of these preferences stem from the equipment on the computer that plays the midi. I use an external MIDI sound module that has very good instrument voices. The FM soundcards are becoming less common than they were a few years ago -- they were very poor in sound quality. The newer wavetable cards are quite bit better, but many differences do exist in the sounds of different brands and models...
