.A cold front will cross the area tonight bringing another blast of
cold Arctic air to the region. Coldest temperatures by morning are
expected to be in the lower 20s north of the coast and around 25
along the beaches. Cold air will continue to funnel into the area
during the day Friday with Friday high temperatures mostly in the upper
30s. The cold afternoon highs will set the stage for an even colder
night Friday night. A hard freeze warning is is effect for Friday
night all the way south to the barrier islands. Saturday morning lows
are forecast to range from the middle teens over the interior to the
low 20s on the coast. Sunday morning looks to be just as cold and
another hard freeze appears likely.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A hard freeze means temperatures are expected to drop below

during this period of unusually cold weather. Area residents and
agencies are urged to make final preparations for these freezing
conditions including checks on the elderly and provisions for the
homeless. Area shelters should continue to expect increased
demand. Outdoor pets should also have adequate warmth.
Everyone should take adequate safety precautions with their
heating systems...and make sure to utilize Carbon monoxide
detectors in enclosed spaces. Extra caution should be used with
portable space heaters. Make sure space heaters are not left
unattended and are not used near flammable materials such as
curtains or bed coverings.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A hard freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are
imminent or highly likely. These conditions
will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
