Are we the forty something Baby Boomers being neglected?

As I was thinking about building a new web site, I started thinking about my age. I am a forty something baby boomer. I decided to do a few searches on Google and Yahoo using key words that represented different age groups. What I found was that Baby Boomers and more precisely forty something baby boomers got the least number of sites returned.

The lack of sites found for forty something baby boomers is interesting. I am sure you have heard that the Baby boomers make up a large portion of the USA population. Based on "Baby boomers make up a large portion of the USA population." wouldn't you think that there would be more sites found.

This got me wondering if the Baby boomers really were the largest group. If we are, I would think the companies would have many web sites devoted to this large market base.

The next bit of research that I did was to look at the 2000 census data for the USA. What I found was that yes indeed the Baby boomers are the largest group (about 27% of the total population). I also found that of he Baby boomers, those of us who are, or will be in the year 2005, forty something baby boomers are the largest group. The forty something Baby boomers make up about 16% of the total population.
