She was 15 when she met Terrence Emerson back when she was Devon Andrews. Her parents hadn’t approved but she’d always been grownup for her age having basically raised her self. Her mom had been an alcoholic, and her father he was there when he felt like it. What Devon always yearned for was a family, and when she met Terry she saw endless possibilities. He was shy at first, and unsure how to act around this woman child, but pretty soon they were making love in the back of his pick up truck. When her mother sobered up enough to realize what was going on she sent her daughter to live with her grandparents up in Seattle, Washington. But before Devon left her home of Cape Heights she broke it off with Terry, but never told him why. When she returned to town at age 18 she was a woman, with shadowy eyes and a secret she could never tell. Her and Terrance got back together, getting married and having two children together, Adrian and Keisha.

Keisha was diagnosed with Leukemia at age 16. The doctor told her and Terry that a sibling was the best chance for Keisha and Adrian was not a match to be a bone marrow donor. She remembered the child she had when she was 16 that her grandmother sent away to be adopted. The little girl, her first daughter. Sometimes she finds herself distanced from her two children because of her guilt over the baby that was taken away. The fear of Terry being angry at her has kept her from telling him, but last week she found herself confessing to Jocelyn. Terrance and Devon recently discovered that Keisha’s cancer is out of remission. Devon may have to tell the secret that she has been keeping from her husband for over two decades in order to save their youngest child’s life.
