Claudia is the oldest daughter of Malcolm and Jocelyn Emerson. The fact that she is still single at her age, and has yet to give them a grandchild, is a constant source of displeasure for her parents. The truth is, Claudia has determined that she doesn’t want children. However, she is growing tired of being alone. She has had a few serious relationships, but none serious enough to lead to marriage. She isn’t a cold woman. She actually has a very warm heart, but she is hard to get close to. She keeps her feelings deep inside, and that has sometimes caused people to form the wrong impression about her.

For the most part, Claudia has focused on her career. She is a professor of Literature and English at the University, and every year organizes the campus-wide production of one of Shakespeare’s works. She is a tough professor, and isn’t particularly well liked by he students; rather she is respected, but feared.

Claudia has a few close friends, but is probably closest to her twin brother Mailk. She understands the great sorrow Malik has suffered with the loss of his son, and has tried to offer him comfort. She is honored to be one of the few people he has truly shared his grief with.

For the past few months, Claudia has been casually seeing Manny Torres. She met Manny at campus event, as his daughter Anita was enrolled in one of her courses. Although she is fond of Manny, his protectiveness of his Anita, which Claudia views as smothering, has been a barrier to their relationship.
