Andrew became a single father 24 years ago when his beloved wife Anna broke his heart, leaving him, their children, and Cape Heights behind for Neil Scott. The news nearly destroyed Andrew, but he forced himself to remain strong so that Charlie, Karen and Shawn wouldn’t see how much he was hurting. His children view him as a pillar of strength, and he has vowed that he will never reveal any signs of weakness to them. He is proud of the successes each of them has achieved.

Andrew closed off his heart, not wanting to get close to anyone again. He focused on his work, learning to become a chef. He is now considered one of the best in Pacific Northwest. He owns his own restaurant in Cape Heights, and the glowing reviews it receives has people coming from near and far to sample one of his delicious meals. Andrew enjoys his relative fame, and for the most it keeps him busy, so that his lack of a personal life doesn’t bother him much. Sonia Alvarez manages his restaurant, and although their relationship had always been strictly professional, they have recently begun to date casually.

Though he has tried to let go of the past, he hasn’t entirely succeeded because so many memories still haunt him. Anna left behind the sordid evidence of her betrayal, in the form of pictures and letters from her affair. Instead of destroying everything, Andrew has kept it, as a symbol that he should never take anything for granted or assume that everything is fine simply because it appears. Andrew holds a secret fear and suspicion that one or more of his children might be the product of his wife’s affair, but he hasn’t confided this to anyone.
