How to support this website -- and Iowa Public Radio

uuiowa.org serves as the contact point for underwriting-support announcements that are heard on Iowa Public Radio (IPR). For example, one of our messages is:

Support comes from the Unitarian Universalist congregations of Iowa.
Unitarian Universalism: Dedicated to social justice, caring for the earth,
and celebrating a lifelong journey of body, mind and spirit.
Details at uuiowa.org.

These messages are now heard statewide on IPR's news feed. We can place these announcements on IPR by underwriting their programming; and the more we underwrite, the more announcements we can place. In turn, these funds are obtained through contributions made by members and friends of Iowa UU congregations to their congregation's IPR fund.

Why support this effort

Every penny contributed to your congregation's IPR underwriting fund goes directly to IPR; thus your contribution benefits IPR exactly as much as the same contribution made directly to IPR, say during its membership drive. However, a contribution to the underwriting fund also benefits Iowa Unitarian Universalist congregations, by the exposure resulting from the underwriting announcements. This is a win-win proposition!

Note: Your contribution to the underwriting fund remains tax-deductible. It counts as a contribution to your church (or society, fellowship, ...) rather than to IPR.

How to support this effort

If your congregation has an IPR fund (see below), it's easy! Just write a check to your church (or fellowship, society, ...), with "IPR Fund" on the memo line. Many UUs do this in lieu of their direct IPR membership contributions. Others wish to maintain an IPR membership and so contribute some to IPR and the rest to the underwriting fund. Remember, either way, all of it goes to IPR, but the part you contribute through your church also helps support this website and raises awareness of Unitarian Universalism in Iowa.

Periodically, all congregations' IPR funds are gathered in one place and used to pay for the announcements you hear on the statewide IPR news feed.

Who to contact

The current coordinator of uuiowa.org is Russ Lenth, rvlenth@mchsi.com, a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City. Please contact him if you have any questions or wish to offer ideas (or additional energy!). The coordinators of each congregation's IPR fund are listed below. If your congregation does not yet have a coordinator, please contact Russ and volunteer to serve your congregation in this way.
