I arrived aboard the AFFRAY in Athens, Greece after several millitary hops, in 8-69. My first glimse of her as I jumped out of the jeep on the pier, and grabbed my duffelbag was her mast. The tide was out and that's all I could see. Wearing my dress blues in the 95+ heat I was welcomed aboard by a Chief Boat's with a short, fat, cigar in his mouth, he said; "Welcome aboard sailor.
