3/01/05
Macey slept until 5am, then she woke up hungry (she didn't eat much the night before). After sucking down 8oz of formula mixed with rice cereal, she fell back to sleep. We had to wake her up at 7 so we had time for a bath before going down to breakfast.
Today was a business day - paperwork and interviews. First stop was the Jianxi Civil Affairs office. This is where we pay the majority of our fees and have interviews with local officials who approve the adoption. Macey had her passport photo taken as well. The Tonggu orphanage director (man in black below) and one of the nannies (older woman in red) were also there to answer any questions that we had about the children. Joy (white jacket) and Maggie (denim jacket) work for Bethany and are our guides/interpreters.
Some of the things we learned about Macey:
|
Her nickname (what the foster family called her) is Ping-Ping
|
She had an adult foster-sister
|
She's a good eater and sleeper
|
Like most foster kids, she spent a lot of time in a walker
|
Chinese don't say 'peek-a-boo', they say 'meow' when they play. |
Next we went to the county government offices to have our adoption notarized.
I get some quality time with a tired Macey.
What do you think? Is this my style? (no, I didn't buy this)
Most of the afternoon was spent back at the hotel.
Bye!
