Welcome to our Adoption Website!

This "Journey to Macey" site was created so that our friends and family can stay up-to-date as our adoption from China progresses. Check back frequently for the latest information. Enjoy the Site!

5/04/05  Hi everybody. We continue to be amazed at how many people continue to visit this site. Apologies to all who have been waiting for new pictures - our only excuse is a reduction in free time due to our recent family expansion. Macey continues to adjust extremely well. She is crawling all over the place and I'm sure she will be walking soon. She has also discovered kissing is fun and puckers up big if someone (or something) looks kissable! She has gained nearly four pounds since we were in China, so she's quickly catching up to the rest of her age group. More photos have been added to the photo gallery, so go take a look!

3/26/05  Happy Easter! I added some recent pictures to the photo gallery, just to let everyone see how we are doing 2 weeks after returning home.

3/09/05  WE'RE BACK!   If you missed our adventure, just go over to the Journey to China page and read all about it. Even though our mission is accomplished, I'll leave the website up. Thanks for all your prayers and support!

2/25/05  WE'RE OFF!   While we are in China, daily updates and new pictures will be linked to our schedule on the Journey to China page. Go see what we are doing now!

2/09/05   HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY MACEY !!! (Oh, and Happy Chinese New Year too!) . Perfect timing - we received our official invitation from China for adoption travel today, along with the rest of the details and daily schedules for our trip. Two weeks from today we'll be winging our way to Beijing!

Also, a big thank you to everyone who has posted the wonderful messages and birthday wishes on the message board.

1/29/05   We have our Travel Assignment! We will be leaving February 24th and returning March 9th. There are approximately 19 families that we will be traveling to China with us, 4 of those will also be going to Nanchang to pick up their daughters. The details of our schedule and some maps are now up on the Journey to China page. Our plan is to post updates from China on the Journey to China page as well while we are over there, so set your bookmarks!

Also, I've gotten a lot of requests to post more details regarding Macey's referral, so I added some of the text from her referral paperwork on the Adoption Story page. Here's a snip...

Tong Min Ping, female, born on Feb. 9, 2004, was picked up at the gate of The Civil Affair Bureau of Tonggu County on Feb 11, 2004 and was then sent to our institution by policemen with with Public Security Division of Tonggu County. The worker of Child Department of our institution gave her name......

Read the whole story here .

There are new photos in the Photo Gallery as well!

What's in a name?

Chinese names have definite meanings. For example, Tonggu (Macey's home town) means "bronze drum".

Macey's Chinese name, Tong Min Ping means this:

Tong:  (from Tonggu) means "bronze". All of the children from Macey's orphanage have the surname Tong.

Min:  means "of the people". Also a common middle name for orphans as they came from the people.

Ping:  a small, delicate flower, usually yellow or pink and found near the water. How appropriate! Here's a picture of a ping flower:

12/14/04  MACEY'S REFERRAL IS HERE!!!

Chinese Name: Tong Min Ping

Birthday: February 9, 2004

City: Tonggu

Province: Jiangxi

Orphanage: Tonggu County Social Welfare Institute

We are obviously thrilled! There are a couple more pictures in the Photo Gallery. We'll post some more information as we read through the referral paperwork.

11/30/04   Referals should be coming up soon Stay tuned!

9/15/04   I added a better photo on the Family Page so that you can actually see what we look like without hats and sunglasses   :-p    Thanks for all the great messages you guys have left on the Board !

8/26/04   The Message Board is now working - drop by and leave a message.

A Lifetime of Love

Weather - Here & There

Longing for another child to love,

We'd wish upon the stars above.

I our hearts we always knew,

A part of us was meant for you.

We dream of all the joy you'll bring,

Imagining even the littlest things.

The way it will feel to hold you tight,

& tuck you in every night.

The drawings on the refridgerator door

& childhood toys across the floor.

The favorite stories read again & again

& hours of fun with make believe friends.

The day you took our outstretched hands,

A journey ended but our love began.

Still mesmerized by your sweet face,

Still warmed inside by our first embrace.

We promised to give you a happy home

& a loving family all your own.

A house you've now made complete,

WIth laughter, smiles & tiny feet.

A parent is one who guides the way

Know we will be there every day

Rest easy as each night you sleep

A lifetime of love is yours to keep
