"...and then he bled to death."
Recent Events (1)
March 1994:
Rite of Passage: Tom & Psycho
Shatter's pack has disappeared. After an investigation in Central City,
evidence is found of their (probable) demise, as well as Sander's possible
involvement. During this, Tom wounds a police officer, whom Sandra saves
from death.
A few days later, the officer dies while in the hospital, after somehow
giving out a description of Tom.
A visit to Denver: a meeting with Sanders, who strong-armed the PCs
and claims innocence concerning Central City.
Sometime here Psycho and Clueless disappear.
April 1994:
Tom does a little freelance work.
Galen shows up. While in Denver the PCs learn about Ben (the new Gnawer)
-- apparently he has been involved with the Claws. The PCs have a run-in
with a small group of Claws, two of which turn out to be fomori.
On a later trip, Tom (alone) visits his mother -- only to discover that
she has disappeared. He is attacked by a group of things led by Grevner
and awakens sometime later in the caern, returned by the White Wolf itself.
The group then investigates Grevner's residence. It's Umbral side has
been perverted, hinting at what was responsible for the body found within,
on the "real" side. Hints are found, tying Sanders to Tom's missing
mother and Grevner with Haephestus Enterprises, Ltd.
Meanwhile, Galen goes on a spirit quest.
Research
is conducted. Tom confronts Sanders and reaches an uneasy agreement with
him. They then raid HEL's Denver offices, only to discover that the company
is in the last stages of transferring its base of operations to a newly
opened mill outside the small town of Alma.
A moot is held where the White Wolf appears again and offers its protection
as totem to the PCs' newly formed pack.
Sandra and Galen decide to check out the HEL operation in Alma. They
pick up Anpw en route, and eventually meet Tom near HEL's Alma branch offices.
The pack decides that an oddly secure warehouse is more interesting than
the offices proper, and plans a raid on it.
Sandra (currently "enlightened") senses that something is
wrong with the Umbra, blocking off or distorting almost all sensation within.
The pack decides that the mysterious warehouse is the center of this phenomenon
and break in to investigate. After dealing with a few security guards they
stumble onto a strange device attached to all sorts of computers and other
electronics. The pack flees from the nexus crawler that appears when the
device is destroyed.
On
the way back to the caern, the pack interrogates a captured security guard.
They then return only to discover that the caern is almost deserted, most
of the sept left to deal with the nexus crawler that suddenly appeared.
The pack rushes back to help, but misses them by a matter of hours.
Thinking this an opportune time to investigate HEL's Corman Mill and the
infamous Black Hand Mine, they assault the place. In the ensuing attack on
the complex Sandra is captured and taken into the mine.
The rest of the pack assaults the mine, in the process learning that
it is a Wyrm-caern protected by Black Spiral Dancers and their pet things.
The rest of the pack are critically wounded, captured, and only escape
death through a quirk of the lead BSD's madness.
Sandra learns the reason for some of her recent visions. The Dancers
had found a moonstone and were preparing for a ritual to pervert it, so
it could be used to directly attack Gaia's caerns. Using the BSDs' madness
against them, the pack steals the moonstone and barely manages to escape.
At the moot following the attacks on HEL, there is debate on what to
do with the stone. The Bone Gnawers in Denver claim that it was once theirs.
Broken Sky claims that in losing it the Gnawers have already proven themselves
incompetent of keeping such a powerful item. Prompted by the PCs (especially
Tom), the rest of the sept disagrees; the stone would do no good hidden
away, the Gnawers could put it to good use. The PCs return the stone and
the Gnawers pledge what support they can.
Meanwhile, Anpw has been searching for vampires in Denver, and finds
a likely suspect. When the rest of the pack is called in to help, the one
in question is easily slain.
