Spotlight - April 2003 Terry & Brenda Williams ![]() |
This month's spotlight is on Terry and Brenda Williams. They joined the Volkswagen club at the Hampton show last August. Brenda's involvement in Volkswagen goes back a ways when she bought a two year old 1969 YUKON YELLOW beetle convertible. That car served her as daily transportation & parade vehicle for a lot of years. Finally sold to make way for a new Chevette. The car was wrecked shortly after that and the Chevette gave way to another beetle. Fast forward to the summer of 2002 and a call from Brenda's brother about a car she and Terry HAD to go see. It seems she had always wanted a MG kit car and this Gazelle was really close to that. When they went to look --- well you know the outcome if you were at the car show. The Gazelle was purchased from a fellow in Rock Island who had built it in 1981 on a 1971 beetle chassis. It turns out the fellow who owned it was the uncle of another club member--Buzz Southwick. Buzz was more than a little upset when he found out his uncle sold the Gazelle without even telling him. Brenda & Terry have some interior upgrades planned for the Gazelle. While Terry is up to his armpits in a body off resto of a 1962 beetle convert. No daily transportation here in either car but maybe some more parades. |
