It's about time for the nearly famous Bi State VW 5th annual Fall Foliage/Poker Run. We have tentatively scheduled the 2nd Sunday, October 11th for this event which will serve as the October meeting as well. We will leave the Bridgeview Tavern parking lot in Rapids City, IL at 12:00 sharp and travel basically the same route as last year. If you have never been, it’s one of the most fun events of the year so plan now to attend. The views from the Mississippi Palacades bluffs are fantastic and the huge caravan of VWs makes the trip a blast. Latest word is that the McGuinnes Market is open too! This trip is weather dependent so if it turns out to be crudy weather we will likely delay a week. Watch for email updates.

It doesn't take much to sway the interest of Bi State members to food. Luckily November will bring the return of the Soup Supper again hosted by Buzz Southwick at his amazing garage. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer.

Don 't miss this year' fall color cruise and poker run. I'm sure Paul will be there!

Thanks to all who helped make our presence at Camp Courageous a force to be reckoned with. While we slipped to 3rd in the club participation award, we dominated in the size of our contributions. The mountain of paper products and other items from Camp C's want list put to shame the paltry offering from the glass car drivers. The coup de gras was the giant check which again blew the corvette club off the map. The number of VWs was staggering. The Project German club was there in force as well as several unaffiliated VW drivers. If we had everyone present registered as one club I think we would have won that too. The icing on the proverbial cake was that Bi State VW took 5 of the 6 trophies in the VW classes. Whoo Hoo!

I've updated the events calendar for 2009. If you are aware of additional VW events you'd like to include on our calendar, please send them to me for inclusion.
