IAMTHETHORN joins Goodfellow Records

Seattle quartet IAMTHETHORN is the newest addition of the Goodfellow Records roster. This new band features an amalgamation of names that will be familiar to those that have followed the Northwest heavy music scene of the past ten years. Featuring Johnny Pettibone (Himsa, Nine Iron Spitfire, Genuine, Undertow) on vocals, Aaron Edge (Grievous, Hauler, Genuine, Harkonen, Himsa, Christ, Hellephant) on guitar and screams, Joe Axler (Skarp, Book of Black Earth, Splatterhouse) drumming and Jerad Shealey (Receder) providing the low end frequencies, the band plays in a frantic, pissed off, down-tuned style of metal that is influenced by bands such as Eyehategod, Crowbar, Integrity and new label-mates CURSED.

On February 20th, Goodfellow will release the debut CD by IAMTHETHORN, entitled You Are The Lamb. A five-song EP, the song titles on Lamb are The Hunt And Beyond, Becoming Death, Cutman, As The Night Rises and Crawling Over Them. A video for the track The Hunt And Beyond was recent shot by King of Hearts Production. It can be viewed online now at www.kingofheartsproductions.com/iamthethorn_mv.htm. The track will also be posted later today on the Goodfellow Records myspace page.

Daymares sign with Selfmadegod

Warsaw-based newborn hardcore / death'n'roll kingpins have entered into cooperation with Selfmadegod Records on the first days of September. As a result of the agreement, the newfangled four-piece will soon begin recording their debut full-length album for an early 2007 release. Followers of both hardcore / punk rock and death'n'roll of Entombed fame cannot afford to miss it.

"We are extremely happy with a possibility to release our debut album on Selfmadegod Records" comments the band. Karol (owner) seems to be really into what we are doing, and the label is definitely most thriving company and HC / punk distributor in the country, hence there was not a matter of debate to start the cooperation."

"We are very proud of the fact that such band as Daymares has found its place under protective wings of Selfmadegod Records. This is undoubtedly one of the most promising new groups on the hardcore / metal scene. We are eagerly looking forward to debut album, which will certainly appeal to many fans" predicts labels owner Karol Pienko.

Daymares has been around for not much more than 7 months. It started when Arek, Pat and Marcin started to jam together in late winter of 2006 to create the monster that they had thought about doing for a long time. The idea behind the band was to bridge heavy HC, death'n'roll and punk rock. The heaviness and brutality, the anger, the fury, the intensity, and the passion for underground ethics, combined with outspoken lyrical content.

Soon, they teamed up with Grzesiek who is, by the way, Marcin's twin brother. He dug the vibe of the band like nobody else and from then on things went really fast. Practicing like crazy all spring they managed to record "Darkness" for an Integrity tribute album on Escapist Artist, then soon after they entered the Serakos Studio to record a 5-track demo, as they did, the summer was upon them. The songs can be found at http://myspace.com/yourdaymares.

"We are currently in the midst of writing for what will become our debut album, most likely to complete it by the end of November in order to focus on details later on" specify the band. Daymares are busy writing more songs in order to start playing shows and record a full-length album soon. The as-yet-untitled record is scheduled to be out early 2007.

SUNSTORM BRINGS BACK THE DAYS OF CLASSIC, WELL-CRAFTED SONGWRITING ON
DEBUT ALBUM
A few years after hearing demos of a never-released
Joe Lynn Turner album, the folks at Frontiers Records were inspired to
assemble and release the debut album from Sunstorm, an exciting new
project featuring the acclaimed singer.

The self-titled release has been released in America through
Frontiers/Locomotive.

Though the majority of the tracks were written by celebrated songwriter
Jim Peterik, the man responsible for the band Survivor's biggest
hits, additional material was culled from a variety of sources, including
Jack Ponti, Laurence Alan Dvoskin, Van Stephenson, Dave Robbins, Dan
Huff, Jon Astley, Marilyn Martin, and John Parr.

This project was very invigorating and brought back some great
memories, said Turner. It is a shame these songs were not released
back in the mid-80s when they had the perfect sound for AOR radio.
However, it's great to see Locomotive has put them out here in the
States to revive interest. The songs were very well-crafted songs that
could stand test of time in the classic sense of the word. I have talked
to so many people who loved this sound. They still love it now but
have no idea that this music is still being made. I hope to bring back
this sound and reconnect the fans who still love it.

The musicians who join Turner in the Sunstorm project are bassist
Dennis Ward (who also produced the record), guitarist Uwe Reitenauer,
drummer Chris Schmidt, and keyboardist Jochen Weyer. The group’s moniker
was presented to Turner by Frontiers. I thought it fit perfectly,
he said. I am also a Fire Sign (Zodiac)...and I can be a bit of a
sunstorm personality wise, so that worked as well.

With decades of recording and numerous projects and bands under his
belt, Sunstorm presented Turner with the opportunity to work with and
explore the depths of yet another group talent.

I still put a lot of heart and soul into everything I do,
musically, the singer said. That has not changed. What always changes and
is always an adventure is the collaborators. Sure, I have some favorite
people I collaborate with on my solo records but I have worked with a
diverse array of writers and musicians. It's and enriching
experience...almost spiritual in some ways.
