.hack//SIGN: Song of the Saviors OK, so this story takes place after the finale, "Return". I am writing completely on imagination, and expect none of it ever to happen if there is a 2nd .hack anime. I used info gathered from watching the show, and what some things looked to you, I might have seen them differently. Part of it takes place in the real world, and some in The world. I also know nothing about Tokyo, so don't sue me if I get something wrong about it.
Chapter 1-- New Alliances
"You can't do that! What if it happens again?" Subaru looked worried. Her navyish hair blowed over the back of her wheelchair, and her glasses glistening. She was wearing a yellow jacket over a white shirt, and red pants that went past her ankles. She was being bushed almost against her will by Tsukasa.
"I'm going and that's final. If it happens again, we could get Helba's help. I bet she could do something," said Tsukasa. Her brown hair shined in the light. She was wearing the same red jacket, yellow shirt, and blue shorts as she did when she was released from the hospital. She was running home. Not like she was excited to see her father, but she was eager to look at something.
"Whatcha doing?" a voice from behind them said. They could easily recognize that voice. It was their friend, Mimiru. She had brown hair longer than Tsukasa's and brown eyes. Her skin was tanned, and she was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans.
Before anything could stop her, Subaru shouted, "Tsukasa wants to go back to The World!" Mimiru was stunned. Her eyes lost the look of excitement that failed to leave them. Now filled with confusion, she set her eyes in Tsukasa's.
"I'm going. Morgana's gone now. It was on the Message boards. The gamemakers fould her domain and destroyed her, so I'll be fine," Tsukasa said sternly. And she reached her house and wandered in, still pushing Subaru. Mimiru walked in after them.
"I got an idea! If you log in and there's problems, we'll just pull the vertual reality helmet off you and get you to the hospital!" Mimiru almost shouted. Tsukasa nodded, and so did Subaru. At that moment, Tsukasa's father walked in.
"Clean your room. Nobody can come over till you do it. Now," he said. Tsukasa shrugged and went up to her room, which was clean except for a few clothes on the floor. She took them to the hamper in the bathroom. From downstairs, Mimiru and Subaru heard a vacuum sounding. But Mimiru bearly noticed. She was ready to attack if Tsukasa's dad touched Subaru. He always hit Tsukasa and thought it was funny, so wouldn't he enjoy picking on someone in a wheelchair? Tsukasa came down, and her fathr went to inspect. No sooner than they had reached the computer room, Tsukasa's dad came down. Just as Tsukasa reached to pull out her chair, he slapped her in the face, hard.
"You call that clean?" said the angry man. But Mimiru was angrier. That was the final straw. She strode over to him and punched him extremely hard in the stomach. She could easily carry Subaru up stairs as Tsukasa carried the wheelchair. This was how Subaru got into her friends' rooms. Angry and filled with pain, he lunged for her.
"Run!" Mimiru shouted. She grabbed the handles of Subaru's wheelchair. Tsukasa ran forward and opened the door. Down the road, up an alley, and right into someone. A girl rubbed the back of her legs where Subaru's knees and wheelchair nearly punctured her.
She turned around to see what attacked her. She was taller than Mimiru, but still looked their age. She had long mahogany hair, and scary crimson eyes. She was wearing a black shirt that read: One by one, the squirrels steal my patience, and red knee lenghth shorts.
"Eat a taco or something. Your bony knees nearly punctured me." She said with a smile."And lay off the energy food." She added to Mimiru.
"Sorry. See, we were running from Tsukasa's dad. He hit her and I got mad and punched him really hard!" said Mimiru in a single breath.
"Yeah, I have dad problems, too. Started hitting him back when i was ten. Anyway, I'm Naome."
"I'm Tsukasa, and this is Mimiru and Subaru." Tsukasa said.
"Hi!" said Subaru. She was the only one not out of breath. Mimiru nodded and smiled.
Naome heard something. A scream. The smile vanished from her face. "Vash?!" and she darted off. Following her, Mimiru, Tsukasa, and Subaru heard her talking.
"Watch your back!" she had thrown a large brick at a man standing over a boy with raven-colored hair, wearing a red and blue shirt and jeans. Naome rushed in and grabbed the boy. She ran to the hospital, but the man was behind her. She couldn't stop at the front desk. Into the hospital and up the stairs, with the lady at the desk shouting at them. She was on the second floor in a vacant room. The man walked in. She had no choice but to jump out the window. Standing on the windowsill, back turned to the window. She forced herself back, still carying the boy, and was hurtling downward.
"Oh my god!" Mimiru shouted. Subaru closed her eyes. Tsukasa was speechless. Naome was a meter from the ground when she made her move. She kicked off the wall, and glided about a yard before she slid the soft grass on her back. Dizzy, she stood up.
"One more reason why I hate the hospital. No security guards at the door. I mean, the freak was carrying a dagger!"
"Hold on a sec..." Naome said. A doctor had tapped her on the back, asking for Vash. She shifted his weight and handed him over. "What was I talking about? Hating the hospital?"
Hey, who was that?" Mimiru asked.
"My best friend. He was the only one who didn't refer to me as "Demon Girl". Ya know, the eyes." Naome rolled her eyes.
"Well, now there's four people who won't call you that!"Subaru said, smiling.
Naome decided to change the subject. "You guys play The World?"
"You bet!" Tsukasa said before anyone could stop her.Subaru glared at her, obviously still objecting to Tsukasa playing again.
"OK, meet you in Mac Anu in ten minutes?" Mimiru suggested. The other three nodded their heads.
Naome, actually, her character, Sanguine, stood in wait. From behind her, a tall man, around forty-five years old appeared.
"Hello, I'm Bear. Have you seen a character named Naome?" He said.
"Depends, is she a friend of Mimiru?" Naome answered.
"Yes, Mimiru wanted me to meet her." Bear said.
"That'd be me. I'm waiting for her, Subaru, and Tsukasa." She heard a slight noise behind her. She whirled around, catching a Heavy Blade, a Wave Master, and an Axeman sneaking up on her."Hello, just talking about you." She said to her friends. Mimiru looked Naome's character over. She was wearing a blood red gi with a white shirt underneath, and cloud-gray samurai pants (*whatever the heck those are called*), and samurai-like sandals. Coming from her eyes were blood red "tear streaks". Mimiru couldn't identify the weapon. It was like the Long Arm spear, but seemed to have a shot sword on the end rather than the normal blade.
"What the heck is that, Naome?" Tsukasa said, looking at her weapon.
"Actually, it's Sanguine here, but keep calling me Naome if you want. And I won this is a tournament in Hiroshima, where I used to live. It was a smart pet competition."
"What kind of pet did you use?" Bear asked, deciding to get into the conversation.
"My ferret, Hogotchu. He can do flips, roll over, swim, dive, beg, push some little lawn mower I made.... Ya know, dog stuff." She said, counting off the tricks.
"I...don't think that answers his....YOUR FERRET CAN PUSH A LAWN MOWER!?" Mimiru said, surprised at the trick.
"Yes'm, but a little one that I made. It was one heck of a time teaching him. And this is an Elemental Spear. I can shoot fire, ice, or lighting from it....most of the time. Watch." Naome pointed her spear into the air."Pyro!" a beam of fire shot from it."Glacier!" Ice shot out. "Flash!" Lighting shot out.
"Wow, that's a good weapon." Subaru said."Shall we go see the new dungeon?"
A new dungeon was made a week ago. It was for experienced players, with the best monsters and players. "Yeah! Party in the dungeon!" Mimiru said, gating out to the field. The others joined her.
The five stood in an empty room. They had eight choices on where to go, north, west, east, north east, north west, south east, south west, or back south. After a while, They decided to go north west, out of random descision. Naome crept along, making no noise on the stone floor. Mimiru had asked why she chose a samurai appearance, yet she had replied that she had her seasons. Footsteps were heard.
"You guys stay here....I'll check it out." Naome whispered. She broke into a run, but took light steps so she continued to be silent. Up ahead, she saw a ghost. This was not uncommon, as they helped to lead people the wrong way in dungeons. She was going to turn back, but the ghost spoke to her.
"Listen, Sanguine. I have a gift for you." It said. Surprised to be called by her game name, she looked at it. "I have a gift for you." It repeated. Out of nowhere, a large ocarina appeared, and flew to her. Naome touched it, but nothing happened. She took it in both hands, bracing herself for danger. The ocarina jerked forward, taking her with it. She felt her hands being forced into a playing position. Usually, ocarinas were used for teleportation, not music in the game. The ocarina was now at her lips, and, with one final lunge, it was in her mouth. Nothing happened. The ghost pointed to an inscription. Naome recognized it as musical notes."Play" The ghost said. Naome could play the flute well, and the ocarina didn't seem much different. As she blew and moved her fingers, the music flowed. Once she had finished, her hands were released. Naome stood, waiting for the ghost to do something. But before anything happened, she was in a different room. Turning around, she realized where she was...the same room where she had left her friends only a minute ago, but there were no friends, no enemies, no nothing.
"Let me go, ya jerk!" She heard Mimiru's voice shout.
*more later, yay suspense!*
