In case of MINASE, Mai

Mai Minase - The main character of this story. While playing "The World" for the first time with her boyfriend he and her both fall unconscious while playing and are rushed to the hospital. She wakes up, but her boyfriend does not. She is determined to find out what happened to them. She also has a strange ability to hear a "aaa" sound right before something happens in the game, and she uses this to log out before anything can happen to her.

Tokuoka Junichiro - A former employee of the CC company which made "The World", now investigating the strange occurrence where players fall unconscious while playing. According to him there have been 6 others who have fallen while player before Kasumi.  He convinces Mai to help him and they log in to find out what exactly happened.

Masaya - Kasumi's friend and fellow techno geek, he is concerned for both Kasumi and Mai and wants to help, but does not believe their passing out and the game are connected.  

Tomonari Kasumi - Mai's boyfriend and the one who got her to play for the first time. His characters name is SIEG and has been playing for sometime. When he and Mai log in something happens and they both fall unconscious, unlike Mai though, he remains in a coma and Tokuoka believes he is still in the game.
