History of Aktion Club
The first Aktion Club was created in Putnam County, Florida, in 1987. The concept spread throughout the state and eventually throughout Kiwanis International.
In October 2000, Aktion Clubs were officially recognized as a sponsored club in the Kiwanis family. Today, there are Aktion clubs in several countries around the world.
In late 2004, the members of the Kiwanis Club of Ames and the Town and Country Kiwanis Club of Ames began work on starting an Aktion Club. Kiwanians knew that an Aktion Club would bring many benefits to its members and to the Ames community.
Representatives from two local agencies—Mainstream Living and Story County Community Life—joined with Kiwanians to make this new Aktion Club a reality. The Cyclone Country Aktion Club of Ames, Iowa held its charter celebration on May 22, 2006.
