For eleven years, the garage of the Donohue home was the location of the

DONOHUE BICYCLE SERVICE,

but effective 12/24/02, after attaining the age of seventy, I have retired.

1996 the First UMCA World 24-hour Cycling Championships (8/17/96) at age 63, 207 miles, 1^st place in 60-69 age class

1997 UMCA World 24-hour Cycling Championships (6/28/97) at age 64, 214 miles, 1^st place in 60-69 age class

1998 National 24-Hour Challenge (6/20/98) at age 65, 361 miles, 2^nd place in age class (2^nd to Larry Walcott who rode 379 miles with his son, Philip, as a Father/Son team)

1998 UMCA World 24-hour Cycling Championships (8/22/98) at age 65, 367 miles, 1st place in 60-69 age class (James Cartwright, age 60, from Muncie, IN placed 2^nd with 365 miles.)

1999 UMCA World 24-hour Cycling Championships (9/18/99) at age 66, 367 miles, 2nd place in 60-69 age class (2^nd to James Cartwright, age 61, from Muncie, IN with 388 miles)

2002 UMCA 12-Hour Time Trial Championships (9/21/02) at age 69, 191 miles, 1^st place in over 60 age class (Thirteenth of twenty males, all ages)

2003 UMCA 24-Hour Time Trial Championships (9/20/03) at age 70, 335 miles, 1^st place in 69-73 division (Fifteenth of forty-eight males, all ages)

102 Valley Bicycle Tour, 20-mile road race—part of Hopkins Picnic celebration at Hopkins, MO—1^st place in age class over 60 in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2007 at age 74 (unable to compete in 2004, 2006, and 2008)

2004 Iowa Games 20K time trial—at age 71, 2^nd place in age class

2005 UMCA 12-Hour Championships (9/3/05) at age 72, 192 miles--1^st place in over 70 age class (Fifteenth of twenty-four males and females, all ages)

2008 UMCA 12-Hour Championships (8/30/08) at age 75, 184 miles--1^st place in over 70 age class (Tied for fourteenth of twenty-five males, all ages)

2009 UMCA 12-Hour Championships (8/30/08) at age 76 187 miles--1^st place in over 70 age class (no competition)

2010 UMCA 12-Hour Championships (9/4/10) at age 77 187 miles--1^st place in over 70 age class (no competition)

2011 Hopkins Picnic “102 Valley Bicycle Tour,” Hopkins, MO (7/9/11) at age 78—4^th place in over 60 class (there was no over 70 class)

46th Annual Bob Cook Memorial / Mt. Evans Hill climb (7/23/11) at age 78—This was my first race to come in last. I was in the 65+ category, and was only in CO two days before the race and wasn’t acclimated; I had to take frequent rest stops above 11,000 feet (The finish was at 14,127 feet.), but at least I finished. As I was approaching a stop for a break on the way down, I slid forward off the saddle and onto the top tube, lost control and took a header. I suffered a concussion and spent 24 hours in a Denver hospital. At least I learned what helmets are for!
