Rules of the Road

It is Mediacom Online's intent to provide our customers with the best cable Internet service possible. In order to accomplish this task, we have adopted Rules of the Road (the Mediacom Online Personal Web Page Policy) that is set forth below. This policy outlines the proper use of the personal web page feature of your Mediacom Online (the "Service").

It is the responsibility of all Mediacom Online customers, and all others who have access to Mediacom Online's network (You or Customer), to comply with these policies. Failure to comply with these or any other Mediacom Online policies could subject your account to suspension or termination. If You do not agree to comply with all of these policies, You must immediately stop use of the Service and notify Mediacom Online so that your account may be closed.

  1. The personal web page feature allows any Mediacom Online customer to create and publish a 10 megabyte Web page for each e-mail ID, accessible via the Internet. Mediacom Online offers this feature at no additional charge.
  2. You are solely and totally responsible for the content on your Web pages and the content that you post to newsgroups or in chat rooms. We will not systematically review that content, but we have discretion to block access to your pages, delete postings or suspend your account if the content violates the Terms and Conditions.
  3. A word on copyright infringement: In the early days of the Internet, content was "free" to all, available to be shared. Although there are parts of the Net that are still that way, other sites now include copyrighted material. Copyrighted material is the property of the owner and the owner can take you to court if you make a digital copy (say, on your personal home page) without permission. Often you may see the mark © indicating a copyrighted work, but the material does not have to be marked to be entitled to copyright protection.
  4. Third parties can similarly own and legally restrict your copying of trademarks, photographs, and other "intellectual property."

So, please stick to images, sound files, and other media files that you know you can use without infringing someone else's rights to that content. When in doubt, seek the permission of the owner.

  5. If you wish to include your e-mail address on your page, please be aware that Web crawlers can visit your page, pull the e-mail address and proceed to use it in mass e-mailings.
  6. Keep a copy of your page either on your hard drive or on a disk for any possible future changes or revisions.
  7. Mediacom Online does not endorse or guarantee any product or service mentioned on your Web pages and You may not state or imply any such endorsement or guarantee.
  8. Mediacom Online does not assume any responsibility for any loss, damage, or cost due to your use or inability to use the Service, including any inability of others to view your pages.

Any policy set forth by another service provider accessed through the Service must be strictly adhered to.

Customer agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Mediacom Online and its affiliates against all claims and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) resulting from Customer engaging in any of the prohibited activities listed in this Section or resulting from violation by Customer of the Mediacom Online Personal Web Page Policy or of any other posted Mediacom Online policy related to the Service.
