Recyclables
Include: Paper
and Cardboard:
Cardboard boxes, Chipboard materials (pop/beer cases, shoe boxes, cereal boxes,
frozen food boxes), Office & writing paper, Telephone books, Newspapers,
Magazines, Paper bags & junk mail. Do
not recycle Food
stained cardboard, packing material or styrofoam.
All paper and cardboard needs to be clean & dry.
Pack newspapers in large brown bags or a cardboard box.
Break down boxes and place inside one another for easier
handling. Plastic
Bottles: Includes;
Milk & juice jugs, soft drink bottles, water & juice bottles, laundry
detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, cleanser bottles, food containers, plastics
with a recycling symbol. Do
not recycle; Contaminated
plastics (from motor oil, paints, gasoline, antifreeze, etc.)
Plastic bags of any kind, toys, tupperware, medical supplies, laundry
baskets, cookware & utensils, polystyrenes, prescription bottles.
Plastics containing hazardous materials should be taken to the Jackson
County Transfer Station. Crush
plastic jugs to save space. Do not
leave plastic jugs tied together. Glass
Containers: Includes;
Food-containing jars, salad dressing bottles, condiment bottles, juice
containers, pop bottles, beer bottles, liquor bottles, wine bottles.
Do
not recycle; Mirror
glass, window glass, crystal, drinking glasses, light bulbs, ceramics, ovenware,
broken glass. All glass containers
should be rinsed clean. It is not
necessary to remove labels. Aluminum
& Tin: Includes;
Soft drink cans, juice cans, beer cans, food-containing cans/lids, aluminum
foil, empty spray cans, disposable bake ware.
Do
not recycle; Pots
& pans, baking pans, cans containing hazardous materials (paint, varnish
etc.) All aluminum should be rinsed
clean. Spray cans need to be
completely emptied.
