Welcome aboard…JOIN US!!!
We are a NEW CLUB in the Greenville area devoted to radio controlled SAILING and RACING at beautiful Oak Grove Lake, just off Roper Mountain Road on Oak Grove Lake Rd. Proposed racing days are Wednesday and Saturday, and anytime when the temperature is above 50 degrees. An inexpensive hobby, we teach sailing and make kit building fast and easy. After charging batteries overnight to control sails and rudder, you can sail for days. It is quiet - no motors - and challenging!
Our one meter sailboat: We sail the Kyosho Seawind, a One Design class (all boats are alike) model sailboat. In this boat very little modification is allowed and all boats are the same. As a result, the emphasis is on sailing abilities, not on the ability to modify the boat to make it faster. The result is an affordable, and very competitive racer. We also sail the Megatech Nirvana at different times, which is a smaller and less expensive boat. You are welcome to sail with us if you have another boat, but eventually sail the Seawind or Nirvana in order to compete in races. We normally have a Seawind available at lakeside for demonstration purposes and can teach you basic sailing in a very short time, so come take a transmitter and see what fun it is !!
YOUR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: A straw hat and canvas chair. We also have a great shaded parking area. |
